The transportation of dangerous goods by air, marine, rail and road is regulated under the federal Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Act and Regulations, which establishes the safety requirements for the transportation of dangerous goods. Under these regulations it is illegal for any individual to ship, handle or transport dangerous goods unless they hold a valid training certificate.
The GEMC on-line training program is based on the TDG Act & Regulations and is designed for shippers, carriers and handlers of dangerous goods by road, rail or sea. This program is not intended for individuals that ship dangerous goods by air as that is governed by a different legislation. If your company ships by air please inquire about our customized air training programs.
The program is divided into 5 sections. At the end of each section is a short quiz. Once all of the sections have been completed there is a final exam. You must score 85% or better in order to receive your Transportation of Dangerous Goods certificate. The certificate is valid for 3 years and must be signed by the individual that completed the course and the employer and it must be carried by the employee at all times while on the job.
It is the responsibility of the employer to ensure that this program provides adequate training as related to the position held by the individual that is completing this course.
Good luck and remember it is everyone’s responsibility to ensure the safety of the employees, the public and environment.
